Musically, it's not all that interesting to me and lyrically I find it quite maudlin. "I'll Remember" on the other hand, I found quite pleasant. Of course, the fact that I could apply the lyrics to my life at the time did not hurt at all.

DDanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09484170969405007352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5866303.post-4647792159845354482007-03-25T11:57:00.000-05:002007-03-25T11:57:00.000-05:00One more... Some of the songs are really unlike anything she has done, esp X-Static and Intervention. The latter is a masterpiece bar one moment: I hate it when she builds up to "I was special too." Yuck.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Nobody Knows Me. Esp the live performance. I also think Mother And Father works nicely as a rock pop song live.

You know what song sounds great now- Hollywood! It is so crisply produced. I love all the little details, like how clipped her voice is when she says "This bird has flown." Literally clipped, like they took a millisecond off each word.

I listened to Stupid once. I have a problem with that word. Gwen uses it on her new album too. Grrr. Try foolish. Never got into Easy Road either. It was like Gone part 2.xolondonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05527843352134958287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5866303.post-60151214043805645062007-03-23T15:30:00.000-05:002007-03-23T15:30:00.000-05:00Yeah, American Life was not my fave Madge CD. But...Yeah, American Life was not my fave Madge CD. But it does sorta grow on you over time. I thought Die Another Day was the best song on the CD for a long time. And it is the "stuck on there" track that didn't do too badly on the charts. But pretty much Madge's decline from the charts started with American Life and sadly still continues, with the exception of the much promoted Hung Up.

Totally agree: Madgie needs to STAY AWAY from rapping. Not her calling!

And the dumb line "my father...used to think he was a jerk" is only outdone by Confessions' "Other places make me feel like a dork" to win worst Madonna lyric of all time!

Mother and Father does a little dance action, but I got excited when Nobody Knows Me gave that little hint of a funky dance thing. Of course, like the other songs, it's minimalistic. And again, I was disappointed.

The crowning song is Nothing Fails, which is Like A Prayer, Part II. Great song...hands down!

So like so many other things, I pretty much mirror how you feel. Separated at birth, I tellz ya!Yuяihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02199872709750899230noreply@blogger.com
