The places you'll find nerds

Regular readers will know that I'm not a fan of features on here. They are too difficult to keep up and do not fit in well with my "I'm going to write about whatever the hell I feel like writing about" tone that I like to keep in this space. Plus I don't like pressure to write about a specific thing on a certain day or every so many days. But as Stevie Nicks says, like a willow I can bend.

Blogging buddy and fellow Midwesterner TKT from Tappity Tappity referred to his office in a recent post as his Nerdery. I thought that this was a brilliantly appropriate term for mine as well. As Wil Wheaton once said, "I'm proud to be a geek...I can imagine [not being a geek], but it's just about the most boring goddamn thing I can imagine." My sentiments exactly.

So starting probably the week of February 17th, we're going to be spotlighting our respective Nerderies and highlighting the very things we should probably be ashamed of. There will be zombies. There will be Madge. You might even get a shot at seeing the very desk from which I blog on a semi-regular basis. (Note to self in the best Mommie Dearest voice possible: CLEAN UP THIS MESS!) I may even do a video blog. Not sure about that one - I hate how my voice sounds and I just don't think I could handle putting that much up on the blog.

If you're interested in getting in on this, by all means, let me know. It's going to be a week to celebrate nerdiness in all its fabulousness. That week is also National Engineering Week which, oddly enough, fits in with the theme.

Nerdery Week may not be as highly anticipated as Cloverfield, but hey, it's all I have.

I am SO down with the week of nerdiness. Not sure I can cram all of my nerdiness into one week...

Bring on the nerdiness! Nerdz rule!

Ps. Remember Violet from 9 to 5 said, "I'm a tree; I can bend!"

YAY! for all the participants!

And Yuri, you know I thought of that Violet Newstead quote, but figured it was too obscure of a reference. I should have known better. ;)

Yay for the Nerdery!

"I'm not mad at you Helga, I'm mad at the dirt..."

Okay, I've got six things I can think of that are at least slightly nerdy. I'm in, too.

Gads, this is going to be fan-freaking-tastic. We just need to make sure to cross link to each other during the week to keep tabs on all the goings-on in various nerderies across this fine country of ours.

I need to get the nerdery date up on my rotten ol' bloggy blog.

Also...I hate the sound of my own voice.

What? Me? A nerd? I think not, Captain Underpants! I will shine above you all. Hey, I am a nerd because I can't figure out how to reply to you with being anonymous! Ahhhhh! I will review what I need to do, besides cleaning socks.

Jeff, you should know by now that I can handle the socks.

I am not remotely nerdy. I am insulted by this whole idea! ;)

I'm so there. My wordpress template may not cooperate but I can hack it because I'm that kind of nerd.
